Lutto nel teatro: morto il regista Bob Wilson. Il suo lavoro anche alla Pergola di Firenze
FIRENZE – È morto oggi a New York, per una malattia fulminante, il regista, scenografo e artista visivo Bob Wilson, più volte ospite a Firenze al Teatro della Pergola: giusto l’anno scorso, nel marzo 2024, aveva messo in scena qui in prima mondiale il suo Pessoa. Since I’ve been me, commissione del Teatro della Pergola e del Théâtre de la Ville di Parigi, di cui firmava regia, scene e luci.
Era nato a Wacho in Texas nel 1941 e nella sua lunga carriera è stato anche coreografo, pittore, scultore, videoartista e designer. Aveva curato alcune regie d’opera anche per il Teatro della Scala.
L’annuncio della morte è sulla sua pagina ufficiale, dove alla sinistra di una sua foto in bianco e nero (quella che pubblichiamo qui), si legge: «We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Robert M. Wilson, artist, theater and opera director, architect, set and lighting designer, visual artist, and founder of The Watermill Center.
Robert Wilson died peacefully today in Water Mill, New York, at the age of 83, after a brief but acute illness.
While facing his diagnosis with clear eyes and determination, he still felt compelled to keep working and creating right up until the very end. His works for the stage, on paper, sculptures and video portraits, as well as The Watermill Center, will endure as Robert Wilson’s artistic legacy».
